Proposed Service Changes

Triangle Transit would like to thank you for all feedback received on proposed service changes. This feedback will be incorporated into final recommendations presented to the Triangle Transit Board of Trustees in December 2011.

The feedback period ended November 18, 2011.

Staff hopes to implement service changes in February 2012.

Proposed Changes

Route DRX
- Proposed change: Add trips in AM and PM. See the PDF for a draft schedule (new trips are highlighted in yellow). Please note that the “extra” bus currently provided between Fulton St at VA Hospital and District Drive Park-and-Ride would be eliminated.
- Reason: The added trips will help alleviate overcrowding on some trips and attract new customers.

Shuttle 46
- Proposed change: From the Regional Transit Center, the bus would use Page Rd/I-40 to get to Miami Blvd instead of Slater Rd.
- Reason: This change will reduce travel time and improve transfers at the Regional Transit Center. The bus stops on Slater Rd. are also served by Route 805 and are unused by Shuttle 46 customers.

Shuttle 49
- Proposed change: Eliminate the trips starting at the Regional Transit Center at 6:30am and 3:30pm.
- Reason: Fewer than three customers per day use each of these trips. Service will be recycled to provide more trips on highly-used routes.

Route 102

• Proposed change: Eliminate the 6:40am departure from Moore Square Transit Station (the first AM trip would start at White Oak Shopping Center). Move all remaining AM departures five minutes earlier.
  
• Reason: Fewer than two customers per day use the 6:40am departure from Moore Square. Service will be recycled to provide more trips on highly-used routes. Shifting all other AM trips five minutes earlier will allow for better transfers to other buses at Moore Square.
  

Route 301
- Proposed change: Eliminate the 6:00am departure from the Regional Transit Center (the first eastbound AM trip would start at Cary Train Station at 6:30am).
- Reason: Fewer than two customers per day use the 6:00am departure between the Regional Transit Center and Cary Train Station. Service will be recycled to provide more trips on highly-used routes. Customers along Harrison Ave. can use C-Tran Route 3 to access Cary Train Station.

Route 305
- Proposed change: Eliminate service along Old Raleigh Rd/Edinburgh Dr.
- Reason: Fewer than two customers per day use stops along these roads. This change will reduce travel time and improve the on-time performance of the route.

Route 311
- Proposed change: End service at the Galaxy Foods Park-and-Ride on the last four trips of the PM. End the last three trips in the AM at EPA and start the first four trips of the PM at EPA. These trips currently begin/end at the Louis Stephens Rd at Cisco/Credit Suisse stops.
- Reason: All of the service proposed to be eliminated serves fewer than four passengers per day. Service will be recycled to provide more trips on highly-used routes.

Route 400
- Proposed change: Eliminate the 6:35am departure from New Hope Commons to Durham Station. Minor weekday schedule adjustments.
- Reason: Fewer than two customers per day use the 6:35am departure. Customers can use DATA Route 10 to access Durham Station from New Hope Commons. The other schedule adjustments are intended to improve the on-time performance of the route.

Route 405
- Proposed change: Minor schedule adjustments.
- Reason: Improve the on-time performance of the route.

Route 420
- Proposed change: Move the 7:00am departure from Maxway Shopping Center to 6:55am. Make other minor schedule adjustments.
- Reason: Moving the 7:00am departure five minutes earlier will help ensure more consistent on-time arrivals at UNC Hospitals. The other schedule adjustments are also intended to improve the on-time performance of the route.

Route 700
- Proposed change: Eliminate 5:44am and 6:14am departures from Lawson St at Durham Tech to Durham Station.
- Reason: Fewer than three customers per day use these trips. Customers can use DATA Route 8 to access Durham Station from Durham Tech.

Route 800
- Proposed change: Eliminate the 5:45am departure from Manning Dr at UNC Hospitals to the Regional Transit Center. Other minor schedule adjustments.
- Reason: Fewer than three customers per day use this trip. Service will be recycled to provide more trips on highly-used routes. The other schedule adjustments are also intended to improve the on-time performance of the route.

Route 805
- Proposed change: Eliminate the 6:05am departure from Manning Drive at UNC Hospitals (the first eastbound trip would start at Woodcroft Shopping Center at 6:22am).
- Reason: On average less than one customer per day boards the bus before the Woodcroft Shopping Center stop. Customers who need to access the Regional Transit Center from UNC/Chapel Hill can use Route 800.
