Short-Range Transit Plan

About the Short-Range Transit Plan

The Triangle Transit Short Range Transit Plan (SRTP) is a five-year transit operating plan and capital program for public transportation and ridesharing services. The SRTP provides an overview of the status of regional services in the Wake, Durham, and Orange County service area, and, more importantly, provides a guide for improvements in current services and expansions to new corridors.

On July 23, 2008, the Triangle Transit Board of Trustees adopted the Short-Range Transit Plan, which includes recommendations for improvements to current services and new service expansion for Fiscal Years 2009-2013.

PLEASE NOTE: An update to the SRTP based on new conditions and planning efforts was adopted by the Triangle Transit Board of Trustees in September 2011.

This update reschedules the timing of several projects identified in the original SRTP, including the alignment of several unfunded expansion bus routes with the County Bus and Rail Transit Investment Plans and timing of the ½ cent sales tax referenda. The update also describes several projects not identified in the original SRTP that respond to changing conditions and priorities.
